About the Role
This is an opportunity for someone who is a selfstarter fast learner intellectually curious driven and thrives in a fastpaced entrepreneurial environment. In this role you will play a key part in the due diligence process evaluating investment opportunities and working closely with portfolio companies to support their growth. You ll gain exposure to various aspects of finance investment and venture capital while contributing to strategic and operational decisions that drive success for both our portfolio companies and investors.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and management reports including balance sheets income statements and cash flow statements.
- Support the monthend and yearend closing processes including reconciliations and journal entries.
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records including accounts payable receivables and general ledger entries.
- Perform data entry for financial transactions and ensure accurate posting to the financial system.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts and monitor actual performance against projections.
- Conduct research analysis & evaluation of investment opportunities.
- Work within a lean team and support in carrying responsibilities within a fastgrowing global venture capital firm.
- Support in aspects of investment due diligence including the development of sophisticated financial and cashflow models for new and existing investments
- Work with and support portfolio companies based on their relevant needs
- Support the team with financial and investment operational activities
- Develop investment recommendations based on data from due diligence findings.
- Work with other team members in the organization to deliver high quality deliverables.
- Support the team in preservation efforts of portfolio companies and form positive relationships with the founders and investors.
- Deliver on various internal requirements to support the team and the portfolio for instance annual valuations portfolio audits portfolio reports investor capital accounts etc.
- Support the team in handling daytoday finance operations including accounts payable receivables and financial reporting.
- Participate in special projects as needed.
Requirements
Requirements
Educational background in Economics/ Finance or other relevant fields.
1 years of relevant investment experience (preferably in startup investing investment banking venture capital or management consulting).
Deep understanding of ecosystem strategy and the role that investments play in supporting the emergence of a thriving ecosystem.
- Strong ability to balance competing priorities work independently with minimal supervision take the lead on projects and thrive in a highperformance team setting.
- Experience and deep understanding of fintech for emerging markets is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and negotiations skills with a demonstrated ability to both identify market trends and establish partnerships.
- Experience working in the African Technology ecosystem and a great relationship building skills is an advantage.
- Passion for performing indepth analysis and interpreting results to form data defensible perspectives.
- Possess a global mindset when reviewing opportunities as well as be a selfmotivated results and growthoriented person.
