About the position
The Senior Research Associate will participate in various research activities including assessing codesigning and implementing food systems/food environment interventions and in documenting their outcomes and possible impacts. The position main scope is Uganda but will contribute to research activities in other countries in Africa where the FECB has active projects (i.e Kenya and Ethiopia)
Responsibilities
- Conduct field research activities including overseeing research implementation and data collection and monitoring progress.
- Coordinate with external partners for data collection and other project activities ensuring that research team needs are met.
- Deliver synthetic periodic reports describing the process and the outputs and publications of the research to support the execution of research projects.
- Lead or contribute to data analysis and production of research outputs and project deliverables.
- Lead or contribute to development and presentation of research dissemination products such as blogs presentations manuals guides etc.
- Support in identifying and linking with key national and subnational stakeholders and universities to facilitate the positioning of the FECB research strategy in Uganda.
Requirements
- Master s degree in nutrition social sciences agricultural economics international development or business development.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in a research organization or an NGO and experience conducting quantitative and qualitative action research.
- Quantitative and qualitative research and participatory methods and expertise with consumer or value chain research
- Knowledge and understanding of food systems concepts and food systems stakeholders and actors at both national and subnational levels
- Familiarity with behaviour change communication for increased demand of diverse nutritious foods.
- Understanding of business development or business innovation for improved availability and affordability of diverse nutritious foods.
Terms of employment
This position is a nationally recruited position based in Kawanda Uganda. The initial contract will be for one year subject to a probation period of 3 months and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.
This position is graded at BG07 level on a scale of BG01 to BG14 (BG14 being the highest level according to the Alliance job classification framework policy).
