This role is responsible for a vital part of the supply chain process in terms of managing relevant processes and systems to ensure goods are received and dispatched appropriately and that productivity and financial targets are met.
Skills :
Logistics Distribution Local & Exports
- Lead and execute the logistics function across the company
- Manage loads across packed bulk oil meal seed formats and others circaloads per month nationally
- Implementation and management of scheduling across all routes including slot bookings
- Schedule and load optimization in line with the business strategy
- Supplier management ensuring cost effective transport contracting and service level management
- Returns management transit diversions and exception management
- Manage SOILL fleet consisting of 15 Vehicles ensuring profitability
- Cost & Efficiency reporting across all formats
- Management of Exports: forwarding agents and all role players both internal and external
Quality Control & Food Safety
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and requirements for own fleet and service providers
Maintenance and housekeeping management
- Ensure that the SOILL fleet is managed in conjunction with the maintenance department and service providers
Utilization of personnel and equipment
- Ensure vehicles are properly maintained in conjunction with the maintenance department
- Ensure the utilization of SOILL vehicles
- Ensure daily and trip checks are executed
Monitoring and improvement of logistics processes
- Monitor existing processes and procedures to ensure maximum utilization of resources
- Ensure Logistics load planning is executed within time fencing constraints
- Ensure the timeously loading and offloading of vehicles
- Manage standing time to an absolute minimum
- Manage route and driver planning
Health and safety
- Ensure that the logistic function in compliance with national regulations
- Maintain standards of health and safety hygiene and security in the work environment
- Participate in safety forums and attend relevant training / programmes
- Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
- Comply with safety policies and procedures
- Wear protective clothing (where applicable) at all times
- Ensure team adherence to safety requirements
Employee management and development
- Ensure overall compliance with relevant procedures and policies
- Ensure that all team members have clearly defined job profiles
- Regular goal reviews are completed to assess achievement of results
- Support coaching and mentoring is continuously provided to the team to ensure that objectives are met
- Appropriate allocation of resources to meet operational demands
- Ensure adequate succession planning in order to meet ongoing and anticipated business requirements
