Job Description
As a member of the UHN FMPRO Redevelopment team the PROJECT MANAGER manages organizes and orchestrates construction projects from planning transition through implementation to project closeout. Under the direction of Manager the principle responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies to effectively manage the user group consultation process; performing financial management activities; preparing schedules and specifications; preparing contracts and negotiating revisions changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects consultants clients suppliers and contractors; hiring and supervising the activities of contractors subcontractors and / or trades people; performing quality management responsibilities; performing administrative and financial management responsibilities to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the department; performing cross functional duties as assigned and / or requested; performing other duties consistent with the job classification.
The immediate focus for this position will be the development and implementation of a wide variety of multiple approved capital projects in a fastpaced dynamic environment. The successful applicant is an excellent communicator detailed and tactful in managing stakeholder expectations with considerable experience leading the development of the project and project team (both internal and external) through to successful completion.
Qualifications :
- Completion of an undergraduate degree program in architecture engineering science or recognized equivalent
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of practical and related experience in the construction industry
- Demonstrated knowledge of Building codes and standards
- Construction project management experience in an acute health care research hospital facility preferred
- Familiarity with MOH capital planning process preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation preferred
- Experience operating in an open public tendering environment is a definite asset
- Computer literacy and the ability to use Microsoft Office applications required
