The Design Manager will be joining a dynamic forwardthinking engineering team that is driven by passion innovation and technical expertise. The team is composed of talented engineers with diverse skill sets all working in harmony to push the boundaries of whats possible.
Your mission:
As Design Manager you will be developing leading managing and coordinating the technical design packages agreeing project related objectives managing designer performance and making appropriate technical management decisions to ensure that engineering work packages are delivered to the required scope quality schedule and cost. The role will also involve:
Ensuring that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager.
Planning and implementing a project design and safety approach which is compatible with Design and Safety Policy/Standards including BIM.
Authoring developing and maintaining the suite of Infrastructure Design Substantiation Documents.
Producing robust technical justification to allow for relevant civil/structural design modifications to be authorised within a high hazard industry.
Checking and reviewing calculations and technical documents written by other members of staff.

Qualifications :
Qualifications/Skills to be successful:
Degree qualified in an appropriate engineering discipline
Chartered Engineer registered with the Engineering Council
Strong understanding and experience of working in BIM environments
Sound project specification planning project management and budgeting experience
Experience of working in the UK nuclear industry (energy or defence) particularly in the design and assessment of safetyrelated structures systems and components
Familiarity with safety case development techniques e.g. HAZID/HAZOP studies
Experience of the design support to construction operation refit and repair of conventional and nuclear submarines and/or facilities.
Additional Information :
Limited travel to sites in Bristol and Helensburgh may be required for example for facility walkdowns however the role would typically be expected to be conducted in a hybrid arrangement from Glasgow City Centre.
Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
