We are seeking a detailoriented and efficient Commis Chef specializing in Japanese cuisine to join our culinary team in Chennai India. As a Commis Chef you will play a crucial role in supporting our kitchen operations and contributing to the preparation of authentic Japanese dishes.
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of various Japanese dishes under the guidance of senior chefs
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
- Properly handle and store ingredients ensuring freshness and quality
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation and service
- Learn and apply Japanese cooking techniques and presentation skills
- Assist in inventory management and stock rotation
- Participate in menu development and recipe standardization
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Adapt to a fastpaced kitchen environment and manage time effectively
Qualifications :
- Culinary diploma or equivalent qualification in culinary arts
- Food safety certification
- Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine ingredients and cooking techniques
- Excellent knife skills and proficiency in basic kitchen equipment operation
- Ability to work efficiently in a fastpaced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays
- Prior kitchen experience in Japanese cuisine is preferred but not required
- Passion for Japanese culinary arts and willingness to learn and grow in the role
