In this role, you will work under the guidance of our experienced pastry chefs, assisting in the preparation and production of high-quality pastry items. Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and production of various pastries and desserts according to established recipes and standards.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
Follow instructions from senior pastry staff to ensure efficient production and service.
Assist in inventory management, including stock rotation and ordering supplies as needed.
Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
1. Food Preparation Assistance
Assist in Meal Prep: Help with basic food preparation, including chopping, slicing, dicing, and other prep tasks under the guidance of senior kitchen staff.
Follow Recipes and Standards: Work closely with chefs to ensure dishes are prepared according to standardized recipes and specifications. Maintain consistency in portion sizes and presentation.
Prepping Ingredients: Prepare ingredients for various menu items, such as washing vegetables, measuring ingredients, and setting up ingredients for cooking.
Support Specialized Areas: Assist in specific areas such as the pantry (cold section), grill station, or pastry, depending on the restaurant’s structure and the kitchen's needs.
2. Maintaining Kitchen Hygiene and Cleanliness
Cleanliness and Organization: Keep workstations and kitchen areas clean and organized, adhering to food safety standards. Clean utensils, equipment, and cooking areas as required.
Dishwashing Assistance: Occasionally help with cleaning pots, pans, dishes, and utensils, ensuring all items are sanitized for reuse.
Trash Management: Properly dispose of waste and ensure the kitchen is free from clutter and maintained to high health and safety standards.
Compliance with Hygiene Standards: Follow food safety guidelines, ensuring safe food handling practices, cleanliness, and hygiene are upheld at all times.
Culinary degree or certification from an accredited institution is a plus.
Basic understanding of food safety regulations and procedures.
Ability to assist in the preparation and baking of pastries, following standardized recipes and instructions.
Execute basic baking techniques with precision and consistency, including mixing, measuring, and decorating.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to stringent sanitation standards.
Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure a smooth workflow during service.
Adhere to portion control guidelines and presentation specifications set by senior pastry staff.
Uphold high standards of food quality, freshness, and taste.
Basic Culinary Knowledge: Basic knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety principles.
Attention to Detail: Ability to follow recipes, presentation guidelines, and portion control requirements with precision.
Multitasking: Ability to handle multiple tasks and keep track of various orders during busy service hours.
Teamwork: Strong ability to work collaboratively with other kitchen staff, including senior chefs and other team members.
Physical Stamina: Ability to work long hours in a physically demanding environment, standing for long periods and lifting heavy objects.
Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt quickly to different kitchen environments, menus, and culinary styles.
