Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
- Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and welldefined procedures.
- Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
- Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
- Identifies discrepancies in results.
- Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
- Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
- Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
- Leads and mentors junior engineers fostering their professional development and technical skills.
- Develops and implements advanced design solutions for complex PHE systems considering factors such as energy efficiency sustainability and costeffectiveness.
- Manages multiple projects simultaneously ensuring timely delivery quality control and client satisfaction.
- Collaborates with crossfunctional teams including architects structural engineers and electrical engineers to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Ensures compliance with local state and federal regulations as well as industry standards and codes.
- Drives innovation in PHE design by researching and implementing new technologies and methodologies.
- Conducts peer reviews of designs and calculations to maintain high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Participates in business development activities including proposal writing and client presentations.
- Develops and maintains relationships with key stakeholders including clients contractors and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Fire Protection Engineering or related field; Masters degree preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in PHE (Plumbing Heating and Fire Protection) design with at least 3 years in a senior role
- Comprehensive knowledge of fire fighting systems including hydrant systems sprinkler systems fire zoning fire extinguishers and clean agent systems
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Revit MEP and other relevant design software
- Strong understanding of NFPA codes ASHRAE standards and local building codes
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Excellent problemsolving and analytical skills
- Strong project management abilities including budget and schedule management
- Effective communication and leadership skills to guide junior engineers
- Experience with energyefficient and sustainable design practices
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and their integration with fire protection systems
- Ability to perform complex engineering calculations and analysis
- Experience in writing technical specifications and reports
- Willingness to stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends
Preferred Qualifications
- LEED AP certification
- Experience with international projects and global fire protection standards
- Knowledge of industrial hygiene principles
- Familiarity with risk assessment and hazard analysis techniques
- Experience in mentoring junior engineers and fostering team development
