Key responsibilities:
- Plan and carry out regular site safety audits inspections and risk assessments. Document the findings and implement or assign the necessary corrective actions.
- Coordinate incident investigations determine root causes and ensure appropriate improvement actions are put in place. Where required complete any statutory notifications to the H&S Authority.
- Collate process and maintain any data records or other information required for H&S within Egis M40.
- Produce monthly internal and external H&S reports identify trends and explore and recommend potential improvement opportunities.
- Advise management on H&S laws regulations and directives which affect the company and its employees.
- Facilitate the implementation monitoring and review of the companys H&S policies and assist with the development and implementation of new company safety procedures.
- Maintain and administer the companys safety manuals procedures and other related H&S documents including advising and assisting in the drafting and communication of Risk Assessments Method Statements and Toolbox Talks.
- Ensure that records of statutory inspections are kept for all activities and plant equipment.
- Represent the M40 in all local group and thirdparty H&S meetings.
- Ensure subcontractor H&S documents processes and competencies are assessed suitable and available.
Qualifications :
Requirements:
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance procedures and publications and an ability to interpret relevant legislation.
- Proven ability to carry out effective investigations audits and inspections and compile reports and recommendations as appropriate.
- Proven ability to apply best practice to prevent or reduce injury.
- Fluent in English with a high level of communication skills including written oral and presentation.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications especially Excel Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience in maintaining ISO standards.
- Flexibility required.
- Full drivers license
- Positive energetic and focused with good organisational ability
- Experienced in working autonomously and within teams in a fastpaced environment
- Ideal candidate will be qualified in Health & Safety with 3 years experience in a similar highways environment
- Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate in Health and Safety or Equivalent
- Understanding of ISO standards requirements especially 45001:2018
- Knowledge of National Highways Sector Schemes (NHSS) is desirable
