Senior Project Manager

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager (Infrastructure) to join our London & South infrastructure team to work on a variety of interesting and challenging projects both nationally and locally. You will be joining a growing team of likeminded people that have a passion for innovation and delivering cutting edge solutions.

Role Description

Approach to all projects requires a high degree of flexibility and creativity excellent presentational skills and an ability to communicate effectively with clients and consultants.  The successful candidate shall be charged with the delivery of Project Management Services within our Client focused and highly motivated professional team.  

As a Senior Project Manager you will be expected to work with an Associate or Director to successfully manage coordinate and deliver projects and/or to lead a team to successfully manage and deliver capital investment projects. This role involves providing both clientside project management support during all stages of the project delivery lifecycle from initial inception through the design and procurement process and onto the site delivery and commissioning phase and AECOM led commissions.

  • Lead Project Management commissions taking responsibility for their successful delivery.
  • Provide effective support and mentoring to Project Managers Graduates and Apprentices.
  • Ensure commissions are managed and completed efficiently on time and to the clients satisfaction.
  • Support and manage the project team ensuring appropriate resources are provided on projects meeting the client and business requirements
  • Develop strong relationships with clients and members of the crossfunctional team
  • Support business development opportunities with existing and new clients. Be the primary interface with AECOM clients (new and existing).
  • Ensure all team members reporting to you have current and relevant training.
  • Manage the delivery of project management team outputs in accordance with agreed timescales and quality standards.
  • Provide full Project Management duties to AECOM clients.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience of working within a client organisation either directly or through a colocation/secondment arrangement.
  • Practitioner of NEC suite of contracts particularly the Professional Services Contract (PSC) and Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC)
  • Experience of leading projects valued at over 10 million in capital value
  • Proven ability to advise clients and design teams on value risks and programme in a holistic way
  • Experience of working as part of integrated multiorganisation collaborative teams
  • Infrastructure and project management experience delivering complex projects
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Excellent IT Skills and the ability to utilize current digital tools.
  • Excellent numeracy verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and with excellent industry network
  • Relationship building skills ability to build strong relationships with clients teams and stakeholders as well as an ability to build and maintain networks of business contacts.
  • Able to work under own initiative where appropriate working closely with the Project Managers and Associates in the delivery of some of our projects.
  • A team player with a cando attitude outgoing polite patient diplomatic personable respectful and flexible.
  • Willingness to challenge in a positive and engaging manner.
  • Understanding of a variety of project types/sizes/sectors. Residential Commercial Education Data Centre sector experience would be advantageous.
  • Is accountable and responsible for own actions and those of your team.
  • To be commercially aware and understand the fundamentals of the internal AECOM management systems and undertake PM duties in AECOMs Project Information Centre.
  • Supporter of social and CSR activities promoting a positive and enjoyable workplace.

Qualifications :

The individuals proposed for the role of a Senior Project Manager will ideally demonstrate the following:

  • A relevant degree such as in project management engineering environmental science construction or relevant subject. Alternatively relevant experience in industry would be considered acceptable for exceptional candidates.
  • Professionally Qualified ideally Chartered Project Manager Status with the RICS APM CIOB or other equivalent institution.
  • At least 6 years of proven experience in a consulting environment providing the full spectrum of PM services including chairing meetings minuting and proactively engaging in discussions developing the PEP progress reports procurement strategies and tender documentation. General post contract management and administration proactively engaging with Client contractor and other stakeholders being aware of the scope of service and ensuring we deliver within the agreed parameters and help to resolve disputes whenever possible.
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contract management ideally NECaccredited.
  • A project management qualification such as APMQ or PRINCE2 would be desirable.
  • A member of a related professional body preferably chartered (APM CIOB) would be desirable.
  • You may be required to undertake and successfully complete security screening checks.
  • Possess experience of preparing bid submissions and managing multiple projects for a variety of public and private sector clients.
  • Experience of managing project finances.
  • Prior linemanagement experience.
