Job Description

Due to the continued growth and expansion of our Building Services Nuclear Team in Warrington we are looking to increase our technical workforce and are seeking to recruit a Graduate Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join our team from June 2025 onwards.

About our Team 

At AECOM our Nuclear Team provide multidisciplinary consultancy to the nuclear industry in both the nuclear new build and decommissioning sectors. In the new build sector we are providing engineering support to the developers of the UKs fleet of new nuclear power stations. In the decommissioning sector which requires considerable new build to enable decommissioning AECOM provides support to the entire Nuclear Estate in the UK including multidisciplinary design support at Sellafield; the earlystage development of the Deep Geological Repository; design and development of waste storage and disposal facilities; and multidisciplinary design support to nuclear defence projects. 

 

The Nuclear Team are currently engaged on a highly complex nationally significant project for a MoD client. AECOM have been engaged from RIBA 1 through to the current RIBA 3 phase.  The project requires AECOM to provide multidisciplinary design and engineering expertise to collaboratively deliver the project. On this project the mechanical team are working closely working with the overall project process team and other engineering disciplines to deliver the required mechanical handling diagrams and mechanical flow diagrams. These diagrams are being produced from models and design calculations and are assisting the overall project to outline the facilities main throughput requirements.

Heres what youll do: 

With an interesting and expanding pipeline of both international and UK based projects as a Graduate Mechanical Building Services Engineer you will be required to both manage and report on your packages of work with support from Senior Mechanical Engineers in the team who will support in your continued development.  

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Hand sketches
  • 3D scheme models
  • Functional calculations
  • Design risk assessments
  • Directive compliance assessments
  • Attendance to client meetings
  • Testing activities
  • Commissioning activities
  • Post project review meetings
  • Identify and report change
  • Ensure that HSE legislation is applied at a project level
  • Provide input to Quality Assurance audits as appropriate
  • Report nonconformities incidents and observations through the appropriate systems.

Qualifications :

Ready to push the limits of whats possible

Heres what were looking for:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering in an IMechE accredited University. Masters level degree would be an advantage
  • Relevant Building services qualifications would be more advantageous
  • Previous experience in the design and delivery of a system or design project at University.
  • Provide a technical understanding of a technical subject of your choice.
  • Ability to prepare written specifications and contract documents.
  • Understanding of the IMechE code of conduct and understand the requirements of becoming a registered Member of the IMechE.
  • Previous work experience and/or membership of a group where you have had to work as a team.
  • Willing to engage in learning the relevant design tools techniques and related methods e.g. IT systems IT Software and by IT literate.
  • A basic understanding of design principles and ability to apply them.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with an ability to present technical topics to an audience.
  • Full UK driving license or equivalent that permits driving in the UK.
  • Able to meet the requirements for security clearance in the UK.
