The Role

The Head of Data will be a handson leader responsible for driving Lumons data strategy while also being deeply involved in the technical aspects of our data operations.

Reporting directly to the CTO you will lead our data strategy and be responsible for the design development and ongoing management of our new Azure Synapse data warehouse architecture ensuring that the right data is captured transformed and made available for reporting and analytics.

Understanding what we do and how important data is to us as a business is crucial for success in this role. You will embrace working with key business stakeholders to identify their data and analytical needs build appropriate data pipelines and ensure data quality.

This role requires a strong foundation in Azure Synapse SQL and a solid understanding of data governance to support the companys growing needs in international payments and FX risk management.

Key Responsibilities

Data Strategy and Leadership

• Continue to enhance and develop Lumons data strategy focusing on enabling the business to drive decision making using data.
• Act as a mentor and leader to the Data Analyst providing guidance on datarelated tasks while also being directly involved in handson data work
• Continually improve data processes governance quality and reporting ensuring Lumon maximises the value of its data assets

Management and Architecture

• Lead the migration to the new Azure Synapse data warehouse designing and building data pipelines to ingest data from various sources
• Perform data transformation tasks to ensure data is structured appropriately for analytics and reporting needs
• Oversee the integration and consolidation of diverse data sources to provide comprehensive insights into key business areas including FX risk management and payments
• Manage and maintain SQL databases ensuring they operate efficiently securely and in alignment with Lumons data retention policies

Data Governance and Compliance

• Develop and enforce data governance policies ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks such as GDPR
• Define and implement data quality metrics ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data across the organisation
• Standardise the data dictionary and business glossary to maintain clarity and consistency in data definitions

Business Intelligence and Analytics

• Work closely with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and build robust scalable Power BI dashboards and reports
• Design and implement reporting frameworks that provide actionable insights for business teams focusing on FX market trends risk management and operational efficiency
• Explore advanced analytics opportunities such as predictive modelling to support strategic decisionmaking

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management

• Partner with Finance Operations and other departments to understand their data needs and ensure the appropriate data is available for analysis and reporting
• Support a culture of datadriven decisionmaking by promoting data literacy and providing training on data tools and analytics

Required Experience

• 7 years in data management data engineering or data architecture roles ideally within financial services or foreign exchange
• Proven handson experience with Azure Synapse and building data pipelines data integration and transformations in cloudbased environments
• Strong proficiency in SQL for database management including the ability to maintain and optimise SQL production platforms
• Experience with cloudbased data architectures and tools particularly Azure Data Factory Azure Data Lake Storage and related platforms
• A strong understanding of data governance regulatory compliance (e.g. GDPR) and data quality management

Technical Skills

• Handson expertise in building and maintaining data warehouses particularly in Azure Synapse
• Excellent SQL skills for maintaining production databases and optimising query performance
• Strong understanding of data pipeline architecture data extraction and transformation processes
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical data solutions ensuring datadriven insights
• Experience with Power BI for data visualisation and reporting
