Summary:
We are seeking a Head of Service to provide strategic and operational leadership within Family Help and Care as part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). This role involves driving service improvement ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and enhancing outcomes for children and young people. You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver highquality childcentered services in line with corporate and directorate objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Service Improvement: Provide strategic leadership to deliver highquality services that protect and promote the wellbeing of children and young people. Ensure continuous improvement by aligning services with corporate priorities Children Act legislation and national guidance.
- Operational Oversight & Performance Management: Develop and implement annual service plans. Ensure robust monitoring and auditing systems to maintain service quality and compliance with Ofsted and CIW frameworks. Oversee financial management ensuring resources are used efficiently and effectively.
- Change & Project Management: Lead key projects and change initiatives across the Children & Young Peoples Directorate. Drive innovation and deliver sustainable improvements through effective change management strategies.
- Policy Development & Compliance: Develop and implement policies that align with local and national statutory frameworks. Ensure services reflect the views of children and families and prioritize their needs in decisionmaking.
- Partnership Collaboration: Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external agencies (e.g. healthcare providers education services police and voluntary organizations) to deliver integrated support for children and young people.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and registration with Social Work England.
- Proven leadership experience at a senior level within a social work service.
- Significant understanding of the Children Act safeguarding legislation and Ofsted frameworks.
Essential:

- Ability to manage large and complex budgets effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal negotiation and communication skills.

- Availability for outofhours emergency cover.
