About the Corporate Transactions & Advisory Group
Our Corporate Transactions & Advisory Team comprises 15 partners and a team of 50 directors and associates. The team is global in nature regularly featuring at the top of the crossborder M&A league tables and consistently winning some of the most highprofile and highvalue deals in the market. We hold Band 1 rankings in Chambers Global Chambers Europe and Chambers UK.
We advise sophisticated UKlisted companies leading global corporates financial sponsors and sovereign wealth funds on their most critical strategic and complicated M&A transactions and joint ventures. Clients include household names such as BT Citi easyJet Mastercard Mondelez Pfizer Telefonica and Unilever.
We advise across the full range of transaction structures: public and private M&A demergers joint ventures and restructurings with a particular focus on complex crossborder transactions.
The purpose of this role:
- To provide the full spectrum of marketing and business development support to the Corporate Transactions & Advisory Group supporting the CMD Executive Manager and embedding yourself within the group and building strong relationships to strengthen deepen and broaden the groups client base.
What will you be responsible for
Strategy and Budgeting
- Support the CT&A CMD Executive Manager on the implementation of the Corporate Transactions & Advisory practices business plan and strategic priorities.
- Support the CT&A CMD Executive Manager on the management of the CT&As CMD budget
Client Development
- Alongside the CT&A CMD Executive Manager maintain oversight of the groups priority clients and prospects including who is leading on each relationship/pursuit.
- Actively support 1:1 client development activities of the CT&A Partners including researching clients and targets (working with our Client Insight & Business Intelligence Team) and driving tangible BD opportunities.
- Help to facilitate the flow of information to drive collaboration and crossselling of client relationships and products with other practice areas.
- Maintain and keep updated a suite of CT&A capability statements.
- Endtoend support of matterspecific pitches including facilitating go/no go decisions; and feed into global panel RFPs as needed (led by our Global Proposals Team).
- Support client feedback activities in the context of relationship management pitches and postmatter reviews.
- Research clients and targets as needed (working with our Client Insight & Business Intelligence Team).
Marketing and Reputation Building
- Manage a range of flagship external events (seminars roundtables and dinners) with support from the PA team as well as marketing and thought leadership campaigns.
- Support the publishing of news and client briefings through internal and external marketing communication channels (working with colleagues in the PR and digital marketing teams).
- Develop and constantly refine value propositions that can be included in marketing materials and pitches and utilised across internal and external communication channels and platforms.
- Prepare the groups directory submissions and support the directory research cycle including liaising with the researchers (with the support of our central directories team).
- Work with the CT&A Associates to draft compelling awards submissions
- Support the London CMD Head of Corporate on practice reporting internal communications and data analysis including the monitoring of league table performance.
Other
- Champion and drive matter capture processes to support the firms submissions to M&A league tables; and synching of BD meetings with InterAction (which is the responsibility of the PAs in the Group).
Qualifications :
Your experience
- Experience of working in marketing and /or a business development function ideally in the legal services sector.
- Solid experience of working on competitive proposals and pitches ideally within the professional services market.
- Experience of working in a transactional practice or sector role ideally within the professional services market or equivalent experience in a client development/account management business development role.
- Ability to challenge the status quo and come up with original ideas.
- Demonstrable confidence and ability to build relationships at all levels of the business (including partners associates and the BD team).
- Highly organised and able to multitask effectively and calmly.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written (editing and proofing ability and high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise projects and be responsive especially reacting positively to urgent requests.
- Exceptional team player highly motivated selfstarter committed to high performance.
- Track record of being proactive entrepreneurial and selfmotivated.
- Strong software skills (Excel Word and PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with systems such as InterAction and Foundation would be beneficial.
