Your purpose in our mission

Weve raised $17.8 million in Series A funding led by Google Ventures and joined by Khosla Ventures. They believe in our vision that the law should be accessible to everyone and this is where your skills will improve the user onboarding to our platform by providing a better user experience.

Your manager and team

Our org structure is made up of pods with distinct areas of focus to keep us all working on the most impactful things for our customers all of the time. Some of our team members work across multiple pods. Our structure was conceived with impact autonomy and velocity in mind and wed love to share more with you throughout our interview process. You will be developed by your manager Daniele Technical Director and your teammate in this small and adaptable Backend function is Giovanni Lead Backend Engineer. They have a generative culture they constantly learn seek feedback and experiment.

This is what youll be doing

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Genie AI youll be joining us in a dynamic stage of our growth so youll face lots of different challenges. Youll start off by working on the new onboarding flow and improve security aspects of Genies backend by working in the user and security permissions area. Below is what we need you to do its up to you on the how:

• Five star user experience: communicating and collaborating regularly with product management (PM) frontend and other backend engineers to provide an outstanding user experience we dont do silos here

• Working on complex problems: discovering new ways of implementing the solutions for the challenges we face at Genie. For example managing large and complex data structures as well as sophisticated workflows

• Autonomy: youll use your problem solving and questioning skills to clearly define your tasks. Youll work with PM and other team members to clarify and streamline

• Day to day: youll be doing code implementation code review system and database design

• Our tech stack: includes NodeJS Typescript and MongoDB

This is how well set you up for success and the outcomes we expect from you

Over your first 90 days you can expect us to help point you in the right direction to set you up for success. During the interview process we can talk you through a high level overview of your 90 day plan.

By the end of your first six months we expect you to be:

• Participating in technical discussions actively contributing to problem definition and technical solutions

• Writing clean modular easy easy to maintain and welldocumented code relying on best practices

• Designing and implementing efficient database schemas that support current applications requirements

Well continually develop and measure success on the below criteria:

• Communication and collaboration (worth making sure youre familiar with the Agile manifesto and values)

• How you work with your team and cross functionally

• Your code quality and your ability to selfmanage

The skills you need to succeed in this role

• We are looking for a MongoDB expert so it is essential that you have advanced knowledge of MongoDB

• Working knowledge of NodeJS and TypeScript

• Youll be able to give working examples of database and system design eventdriven programming and microservice architecture

• Any hands on experience of message brokers (we use RabbitMQ)

• Youll have worked in an Agile environment and truly embody what it means to be Agile

• Well want to see you land key messages throughout our interview process show us youre a team player and demonstrate youre a lifelong learner
