PURPOSE OF ROLE
The Head of Business Strategy position is a senior member of the Corporate Strategy department responsible for formulating companywide corporate strategy under the direction of the Global Head of Corporate Strategy.
The position leads the formulation and implementation of companywide strategies and the successful implementation of problemsolving measures with the aim of achieving high global growth over the medium to long term in line with Santen Pharmaceuticals basic philosophy and vision.
This role will:
- Formulate business portfolio strategies from a companywide perspective.
- Identify issues for the implementation of the mediumterm management plan
- Organize management issues from a companywide perspective drafting solutions and managing companywide projects.
Principal Accountabilities
Strategic Planning
- Based on the basic philosophy and vision formulate business strategies to realize Santens global growth and lead the implementation of these strategies.
- Develop business portfolio strategies (organic/inorganic growth strategies prioritization and resource allocation) from a companywide perspective during the new mediumterm management plan period and from a medium to longterm perspective.
- Support the formulation of strategies for each regional business and function based on the companywide strategy.
Strategic Transformation
- Transform internal processes to enable global growth over the medium to long term through the formulation and implementation of global companywide strategies and plans. Transform business processes by realizing timely decisionmaking interdepartmental and interregional collaboration consensus building information sharing and the implementation of problemsolving measures.
- Create mechanisms for launching new businesses and generating results in the new mediumterm management plan etc.
Team Management
- Improvement of organizational and human resource development in areas such as issue analysis and communication which contribute to strategic planning and KPI management to realize global growth as well as creating a ripple effect of improving the organizational and human resource development of the Santen Group as a whole through crossorganizational collaboration.
Qualifications :
- Fluent in Japanese and English language
- At least 10 years experience in corporate strategy consulting or corporate planning.
- Experience in corporate and organizational change work
- Strategic and logical thinking solutionoriented problemsolving skills
- High level of collaboration and communication skills with senior management and senior executives
- Strong understanding of the life sciences industry
