Construction Project Manager III

AECOM is seeking a Construction Project Manager III to be based in San Diego CA.

AECOM is a large public company highly dedicated to building quality safety and unwavering commitment to client satisfaction. Were seeking a construction manager who has similar values and can put their expertise to work on a variety of public works building projects. This person will be responsible for overseeing multiple projects simultaneously and serving as the worksite representative for dealings with general contractors site administrators / end users project managers and DSA inspectors. The construction manager will ensure compliance with construction contract documents and will provide progress updates to appropriate management channels on a regular basis.

Objectives of this role

• Manage worksites for new construction as well as remodeling projects coordinating activities and ensuring that all work is in sync with project goals and objectives
• Oversee the work of general contractors to ensure compliance with construction contract documents
• Interpret contracts and technical information and communicate project status to clients and the general contractor
• Liaise with engineers architects inspectors and others working on the project
• Monitor project progress and budget and respond to delays and emergencies 
• Prepare and manage estimates budgets and timetables
• Identify mitigate and track recurring construction issues
• Adhere to legal regulations building and safety codes and other requirements

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders including engineers architects project managers site administrators and others working on the project
• Spend most of their time onsite to monitor construction activities and make decisions  including bid walks preconstruction walks inprogress visits punch walks and closeouts and attend status and coordination meetings
• Conduct and document quality assurance and safety inspections throughout the construction process ensuring that the work environment is acceptable and that tools and equipment are in good working condition
• Respond efficiently and effectively to work delays emergencies and other project disruptions
• Provides overall management administration to project and assists in establishing project specific objectives and policies. 
• Provides technical direction and guidance to subordinate managers enforces company and project policies maintains close client interface and ensures all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design budget and schedule through subordinate managers and supervisors. 
• Position has significant profit/loss responsibility for assigned construction project.

• California Public Contract Codes
• California Safety regulations
• Construction project management and scheduling methods
• Current trends technical aspects and developments in the field of construction management
• Oral and written English communication skills
• Operation of a computer and related software applications to prepare a variety of materials
• Interpersonal skills using tact patience and courtesy

Ability To:

• Plan maintain and organize work and project documentation including reports schedules estimates submittals RFIs change order management etc.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
• Effectively utilize software applications in the performance of duties
• Analyze data make recommendations and prepare a variety of reports
• Work independently with little direction
• Meet schedules and timelines

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

• BA/BS 4 Years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications:

• Any combination of training experience and/or education equivalent to graduation from college with a bachelors degree in architecture construction management engineering or a related field and three years experience in construction management involving largescale projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) Registration California Architectural License or Professional certification such as CCM (certified construction manager) or equivalent is desirable.
• Possession of a valid California drivers license and availability of private transportation
• Knowledge of construction methods and technologies and an ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts
• Knowledge and experience with DSA is preferred
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Knowledge of construction worksite safety practices
