Special Education at MLC are responsible for fulfilling the educational and behavioral goals for students with IEPs or 504s and to provide and/or oversee educational service minutes to students on the caseload. Special Education Teachers must conduct educational assessments and monitor continuous growth of students. In support of MLCs model for inclusion Special Education Teachers work collaboratively with General Education Teachers and other service providers to ensure students are included to the extent possible in the general education curriculum. Special Education Teachers are required to attend all IEP and 504 meetings related to students on their caseload and to work with general education teachers to prepare data for the meetings. Special Education Teachers at MLC commit to professional growth and development and participate fully in opportunities for professional development to improve practice and meet schoolwide goals.

Salary Range is $61846 $89427 depending on experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that students are developing MLCs Academic Competencies Global Competencies and Social EmotionalCompetencies and Behavior Standards
- Provide direct instruction in academic areas to special education students on a onetoone or small group basis both in the resource room and in the general education classroom.
- Consult with parents and general education teachers regarding students who are receiving special education services so as to assure that their needs are appropriately met.
- Collaborate and plan with general education teachers (attend grade level planning once every two weeks) to coordinate pushin services for students on caseload.
- Monitor student progress on a regular basis; participate in the review revise individualized education plans as appropriate.
- Conduct bilingual academic assessments for initial triennial or reevaluation and present information to parents at an IEP meeting. Will provide assessment data to the school psychologist.
- Evaluate and review students academic progress for existing IEPs assess students in the area of academics for initial triannual and reevaluations as assigned.
- Refer students who do not demonstrate appropriate progress to the Director of Student Services.
- Create and maintain Individual Education Plans (IEP) records on the LAUSD Welligent Database.
- Document 300 minutes on a weekly basis before Friday at 4:00 pm.
- Create Student Profile for students with IEPs and make sure each teacher the child works with has one.
- Support Social Bunches program along with other identified staff to support students with social deficit skills during the school day. The program may be before or after school.
- Share information and provide consultation regarding childrens needs and strengths with parents and staff and encourage participation in the process of developing a plan in relation to those needs and strengths.
- Create behavior support plans for identified students and monitor their progress and adjust when needed.
- Welcome open inquiry and peer feedback and review.
- Participate in schoolwide events such as but not limited to BackToSchool Night Open Houses and ParentTeacher Conferences
- Attend Professional Development and Staff Meetings as well as during schedule PD Days in the Summer and throughout the school year.
- May facilitate a PD for staff based on the discretion of the Director of Student Services.
- Writing IEPs may happen after school hours.
- Participate on school governance committees and in decisionmaking process.
- Meet with Director of Student Services weekly for supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services Assistant and/or designee.
Qualifications :
- California Education Specialist Instruction Credential
- Fluency in both English and Spanish
- Constructive teaching methodology
- Pedagogy focused on social emotional learning content integration studentdriven instruction and projectbased learning
