Project Description

The Equipping Secondary Educators Program Partnership is a subactivity of the $125 Million Belize Compact funded by the Millenium Challenge Corporation which aims to address two binding constraints to economic growth and poverty reduction in Belize: (1) lowquality education and (2) high electricity costs. This $23 million Education subactivity is launched by the Government of Belize acting through the Millennium Challenge Account (MCABelize).

The objective of this Education project is to equitably increase the number of postprimary graduates with the competencies relevant to labor market demand responding to the root cause of low quality of education that has led to a shortage of trained professionals in all industries. The project has three activities: the Transforming Teaching and Learning in Secondary Education Access to and Progression through Secondary Education and Training and Transitioning to Work.

Position Description

The Education Technical Advisor will provide robust preservice inservice and school leadership training as well as developing teaching and learning resources for the education system in Belize.


Qualifications :

Education:

A masters degree or higher in a relevant discipline in teacher training curriculum development or education administration

Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years experience implementing complex education programs in developing countries.
  • Experience training teachers; or developing resources focused on 21st Century Skills development; or delivering school administrator training.
  • Experience in curriculum revision for inservice and/or preservice teacher training.
  • Experience training teachers and school leaders on competencybased curriculum and how to develop appropriate classroom assessments.
  • Experience with both inperson and online/digital training strategy and content development.
  • A deep understanding of the teacher training and secondary education landscape in similar contexts.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teacher training programs with the ability to demonstrate outcomes.
  • Experience in complex program planning work planning program management and costing.

Language:

Fluency in English is required.
