Overview of the Role

The Head of Technical Education will lead the educational and product teams ensuring the delivery of highquality impactful learning experiences. This pivotal role encompasses auditing and quality control of existing content overseeing the review of technical work conducted by staff or contractors and developing innovative educational products and programmes to meet client needs. Additionally the role involves recruiting training and mentoring technical education staff optimising the organisation's Learning Management System (LMS) and ensuring the educational infrastructure is operating at its peak.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Education

  • Audit and evaluate existing educational content ensuring it meets high standards and aligns with the organisation’s mission.
  • Review technical assessments including code reviews conducted by staff and contractors ensuring rigour and quality.
  • Lead the recruitment onboarding and continuous development of technical education staff.
  • Provide mentorship and training to technical educators refining their teaching skills and methodologies.
  • Ensure the LMS is effectively utilised maintaining organised accessible and impactful educational content.

Product and Programme Development

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and clients to design new training programmes tailored to specific needs.
  • Develop detailed proposals for new initiatives including scope timelines and resource requirements.
  • Lead the implementation of new educational programmes ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.

Learning Management System (LMS) Management

  • Ensure the LMS provides accurate reporting and valuable feedback for learners clients and staff.
  • Monitor LMS usage and performance implementing enhancements as needed.
  • Oversee the integration of the LMS with other systems to streamline communication and reporting.

Strategic Planning and Reporting

  • Develop and execute strategic plans for technical education aligned with organisational goals.
  • Produce comprehensive reports and strategic proposals on programme performance and improvement areas.
  • Analyse data to drive continuous improvement in educational offerings.

Integration and Collaboration

  • Foster seamless integration and communication across teams including technical educators developers and programme managers.
  • Work closely with crossfunctional teams to ensure efficient programme delivery.
  • Cultivate a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous learning.

Feedback and Continuous Improvement

  • Collect and analyse feedback from learners staff and partners to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Implement enhancements to improve the quality and effectiveness of educational programmes.

Skills and Personal Attributes

  • A strong foundation at the intersection of technology and education.
  • Proven leadership and management skills in technical teams with experience in content creation and quality assurance.
  • Experience in fastpaced highgrowth organisations preferably startups or nonprofits.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage independent and collaborative work.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation in education.

About You

  • A degree in Computer Science Engineering Education or a related field (or 10 years of industry experience in software development).
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in technical education programme management or related fields.
  • Proven expertise in developing and delivering educational programmes managing teams and leading projects.
  • Strong analytical and strategic problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills capable of building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
