Job Summary:
The Elective Home Education (EHE) Advisor plays a pivotal role in supporting and advising families who are educating their children at home.
The role requires an experienced and qualified teacher to provide guidance on curriculum planning learning progress monitoring and ensuring compliance with legal and educational standards.
The advisor will support families to ensure that children receive an education that is suitable for their age ability and aptitude and that it meets or exceeds the expectations set by local authorities and educational guidelines.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Provide oneonone guidance to parents or carers regarding the requirements for Elective Home Education.
Advise families on developing and structuring home education plans ensuring they meet the legal requirements.
Monitor the academic progress of children receiving home education and offer tailored suggestions for improvement.
Review and assess the educational provision of families in line with local authority standards.
Conduct regular checks of childrens learning progress and provide constructive feedback.
Ensure that home education plans are appropriately tailored to the child s needs and abilities ensuring all statutory requirements are met.
Act as a liaison between homeeducated families and the local education authority.
Provide support for families facing challenges or needing additional resources or guidance.
Foster positive relationships with families to ensure successful and sustained home education.
Develop and deliver workshops or resources for parents on best practices for home education.
Promote awareness of relevant educational laws and regulations.
Ensure that home education arrangements are in compliance with national and local education laws.
Maintain accurate records of all home education reviews and interventions.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with other educational professionals including SENCOs education psychologists and local authorities to ensure a holistic approach to the child s education.
Skills/Experience:
Proven experience as a classroom teacher or working in an educational setting.
Experience in home education or a solid understanding of home education practices is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of curriculum frameworks educational standards and child development.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse families.
Ability to assess and plan for individual learning needs.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and maintain accurate records.
Ability to provide clear constructive feedback to families.
Knowledge of relevant local and national laws policies and regulations regarding home education.
