Job Description
The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygienes Division of Environmental Health works to prevent and control illness and injury related to environmental and occupational health risks through outreach education surveillance and enforcement. With staff of 1000 the Division covers a broad range of subject matter including oversight of environmental investigations lead poisoning injury prevention occupational health food safety child care radiation control recreational and drinking water quality air quality climate health vector control veterinary public health and pest control. The Division of Environmental Health seeks a Community Coordinator for its Bureau of Veterinary and Pest Control Services
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
Assist with tracking Neighborhood Rat Reduction (NRR) Program work in Public Health Partners Connect (PHPC) including tracking and expanding the number of community partners Rat Academy events Community Outreach events Event attendees.
Service as a Community Liaison for the processing of city agency contacts and contacts for elected officials community partners and other contacts in Public Health Partners Connect (PHPC).
Organize and track Rat Academy events in the community using PHPC.
Generate reports in PHPC of referrals sent to agency and community partners. Respond to inquiries from City Agencies and track their responses and correspondence.
Assist with outreach and education work in all the Neighborhood Rat Reduction areas and perform outreach and education work in all Boroughs. Check the Rat Portal email and respond to inquiries from the public.
Receive and review Pest Management Plans from owners of large multifamily buildings and guide property owners on their pest remediation.
Track enforcement of noncompliant property owners when they fail to adequately respond to Commissioners Orders.
PREFERRED SKILLS:

Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
