Job Description

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent the Dragline Planning Coordinator will lead and mentor a small team of mining engineers to deliver best practice plans and technical advice for Dragline operations at Dawson Mine.

This role is focused on facilitating engagement between technical and production teams at all levels to gather input communicate mine plans and schedules and to ensure that the production processes are optimised in order to continuously increase the operational efficiency. In addition you will utilise your experience to integrate the Dragline planning process into the wider short and medium term mine plans and communicating these outcomes to critical stakeholders.

The role will be rewarding and varied and will involve the following:

  • Delivering Dragline and support services designs according to the defined Anglo American standards and geotechnical design guidelines.
  • Monitor compliance to plan through site systems and field inspections.
  • Coordinate daily weekly and monthly reporting and weekly planning routines for the Dragline process.
  • Development of strip based Mine Activity Designs including pit shell design reserving spoil balancing sectional and 3D simulations cable management and technical risks/opportunities evaluation.
  • Engagement with operations at all levels to seek buyin to plan development communicate outcomes and monitor progress.
  • Collaborate with site Technical peers to build an integrated 3 month schedule for the Steelmaking Coal open cut operation.
  • Providing input and guidance to Anglo American Operating Model (AAOM) planning activities.
  • Contribute to building a performance oriented culture that embraces inclusivity and values diversity technical expertise and provides a safe working practice for all.
  • Continuously improve the processes and systems capability to optimise compliance for short term mine planning.
  • Training and mentoring of engineers and the wider short term planning team

Qualifications :

To be successful in this position you will ideally have experience in the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in a similar diversified high level operational asset.
  • Experienced in dragline design and scheduling.
  • Proficient in 3D Dig Deswik CAD and DD modules or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated Mining Engineering experience in open cut coal operations including exposure to truck & shovel and drill & blast processes.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management techniques and critical controls.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing continuous improvement ideas.
  • Knowledge of the QLD Coal Mining Legislation and Coal Mining practices.
