Job Description
Job Purpose:
Responsible for our central engineering resource (people facilities and technology) strategy. Fully utilising Rotorks central resource capability within our Rotork Innovation Design and Engineering Centre (RIDEC) to efficiently execute and deliver our internal customers needs.
Main Responsibilities:
- Taking ownership of our centralised engineering resource strategy covering effective deployment of resource to support internal demand from our Rotork facilities leveraging capacity and capability in Chennai to deliver agreed business and technology roadmaps.
- With line management responsibility for the Chennai Engineering Team will ensure workforce trends and projections are analysed and workforce plans are in place enabling support to our Global customers delivering on time on spec and on budget. Making certain that resources (people facilities and technology) are correctly allocated to achieve the correct balance of business priorities.
- With a focus on customer engagement develop excellent business partnerships with respective site leads and other internal customers. Setting the bar high and instilling a culture of collaboration accountability and a focus on delivering customer value empowering the teams to strive for customer satisfaction.
- Draw on high emotional intelligence (EQ) to be a role model of Rotork Behaviours and Culture. Recognised as a trusted leader who builds strong relationships drives engagement and focuses on achieving the best outcomes for Rotork and our customers.
- With a Continuous Improvement mindset seek out and deliver opportunities aligned with evolving ways of working to realise benefits covering team Wellbeing & Productivity with a focus on delivering customer excellence.
- Champion Growth DRIVE and future business change deployments for the region.
- Working in partnership with the site & country senior leadership team provide appropriate support to enable the delivery of local improvement initiatives and business objectives.
- As an ambassador for talent development. Grow a sustainable structure with a focus on early careers development succession planning and talent management.
- Drive technical excellence across the engineering team. Monitor and ensure local KPIs are met enabling targets related to safety quality delivery cost people and growth.
- Ensure adherence to Rotorks Lifesaving Rules across the workplace with emphasis on safe working practices and 5S within the laboratory area.
Will have overall responsibility for the local engineering budget working with local finance team to create and manage the annual budget including invoicing and forecasting activities for internal customers.
Qualifications :
Required skills and experience:
- Uses insight planning & market / technical trends to understand preempt & influence long term customer aspirations
- Ideally knowledgeable of the product types engineered by the teams reporting into this role
- Track record of leading significant teams and ideally leading multisite teams.
- Degree level education or relevant experience in an engineering or science discipline
- Strategically skilled able to balance shortterm focus on results with longerterm interests
- Experience of technical commercial and operational complexities with the ability to identify and manage key value drivers for the business
- Experience of budgetary control target setting business plans and forecasting
