Job Purpose
The Logistics Technician will support the Logistics Manager in the management of a small sample warehouse and dispatch operation for the NL laboratory teams and associated customers. This includes safe storage of required stock levels from laboratory teams coordinating shipping maintaining associated paperwork/administrative activities and logistics processes. Ensure all associated operating procedures and policies meet legal obligations and are carried out in a safe and secure manner. The job holder will be required to support the goodsin team when required
Key Responsibilities
Logistics Team:
- Work in accordance with LGCs health and safety quality assurance and security policies procedures and work instructions including the wearing of provided PPE where appropriate (completion of the appropriate training programs as provided).
- Maintain an organised safe and clean work environment by keeping shelving cold rooms freezer area pallet area external store and workstations neat and tidy.
- Support the maintenance of equipment and specialised storage areas (such as cold rooms).
- Work on continuous improvement projects within the broader team and put forward ideas to enhance efficiency utilise space well reduce costs improve quality of service to the laboratory and office teams collaborating with other departments as required.
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining accurate inventory levels and work to perform regular stock checks and reconcile discrepancies.
Goods Outwards:
- Pick pack and dispatch orders safely accurately and efficiently for laboratory teams and with suitable quality assurance measures (such as four eyes principle) as set out in work instructions.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of shipping receiving and inventory activities.
- Ensure all paperwork processing /data entry on IFS is carried out in an accurate and timely manner using the appropriate internal systems as set out in work instructions.
- Support the management of stock levels of packaging and maintenance of packing equipment.
- Operate and maintain warehouse equipment and vehicles safely.
- Ensure the dispatch and relevant storage areas (cold rooms freezer farms and CDL storage) are kept clean organized and safe.
- Comply with health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
- Maintain Dangerous Goods certification.
Qualifications :
- Basic understanding of inventory management and logistics operations.
- Good level of computer literacy and keyboard skills.
- Previous experience in logistics or a related field is desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and logistics software is desirable.
- Knowledge of ERP systems such as IFS is desirable.
- Experience of implementing process improvement initiatives is desirable.
- Health and Safety awareness.
- Ideally hold dangerous goods license.
Additional Information :
In regards to the location of the role you may initially be based at the Teddington site for training. However the Company is planning to permanently relocate its National Laboratories Teddington operations to The Priestley Centre Surrey Research Park Guildford around April 2025. Therefore please consider this when applying for this role.
