A Medical Procurement Officer is responsible for managing the purchasing process of medical equipment supplies and services for the institution. This role is critical in ensuring that Batterjee Medical College have the necessary resources to provide quality education while maintaining compliance with relevant laws regulations and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and select suppliers of medical products (e.g. pharmaceuticals medical devices surgical instruments consumables).
Negotiate pricing terms and delivery schedules with vendors.
Ensure that suppliers meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Track stock levels to ensure adequate supply without overstocking or running out of critical items.
Implement and manage inventory control systems.
Coordinate with other departments (such as clinical and administrative teams) to assess and adjust inventory needs.
Ensure that all purchases adhere to relevant healthcare laws and regulations including safety standards ethical procurement practices and governmental requirements.
Maintain knowledge of industry standards.
Communicate with medical clinics and labs directors to understand their specific equipment and supply needs.
Act as a liaison between medical staff and suppliers to ensure that orders meet clinical requirements.
Continuously assess the healthcare supply market for new products innovations and improvements.
Evaluate supplier performance and address any issues related to product quality or delivery.
Requirements
Educational Background: A degree in business administration supply chain management or healthcare administration. Specialized certifications in medical procurement or supply chain management.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with medical products healthcare regulations and the healthcare procurement process.
Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate pricing delivery terms and service agreements with vendors.
Attention to Detail: Ensuring that all purchases are compliant with regulations and meet the quality standards required in a healthcare environment.
Experience: Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role
