We are seeking a Senior High Voltage Cable Design Engineer to lead the design analysis and optimization of underground HV/EHV transmission cable systems. This role involves creating system solutions improving operational processes supporting manufacturing and training junior engineers while ensuring alignment with industry standards. The position requires expertise in electrical engineering and a strong understanding of highvoltage equipment to deliver costeffective solutions and enhance customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design complete HV/EHV cable system solutions (69kV500kV) including accessories link boxes fiber optic components grounding and bonding schemes using advanced tools and methodologies.
- Study and model the electromechanical behavior of cable systems to support installations and field applications.
- Prepare and revise specifications proposals and safety documents in collaboration with Sales Marketing and Project Management teams.
- Support manufacturing by creating testing plans resolving production issues and facilitating communication between production installation and customers.
- Lead investigations develop solutions and prepare recommendations on technical challenges.
- Execute Research & Development projects managing timelines budgets and logistics using the Stage Gate process.
- Represent the engineering team in customer meetings industry forums and conferences including delivering formal presentations and training seminars.
- Train and mentor junior engineers on calculations designs and project management.
- Promote workplace safety and compliance at all project sites.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 10 years of experience.
- Expertise in underground power transmission engineering with knowledge of related disciplines for problemsolving and coordination.
- Proficiency in standards including ICEA AEIC IEC and IEEE as well as thermal mechanical and electrical field calculations.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills for interfacing with customers and internal teams.
- Proficiency in software tools such as Cymcap Comsol Multiphysics SolidWorks AutoCAD Matlab PSCAD Pull Planner and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in coding with Visual Basic and developing macros for Microsoft Excel.
- Indepth knowledge of cable materials testing processes and the power transmission cable industry.
- Demonstrated skills in customer focus collaborative planning stakeholder engagement and actionoriented problemsolving.
