We are seeking an intellectually curious selfstarter to join our team as a Tax Manager. This is a hybrid role offering flexibility while allowing you to work closely with a dynamic team.
Skills Must Have:
- Canadian CPA Designation
- Enrolled in or completed the CPA InDepth Tax course
- 3 years of current Canadian Tax experience at a CPA firm in Canada
- 3 years of experience in Canadian Tax including consulting planning compliance returns and reorganizations for individuals corporations trusts and partnerships
- Experience managing a team within a CPA firm
- Ability to work hybrid at the Toronto office
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies for a variety of clients
- Research tax issues and prepare clear and concise research memoranda
- Identify and implement tax planning opportunities including tax reorganizations estate plans and postmortem tax planning
- Assist senior staff with corporate tax initiatives
- Stay uptodate with tax codes regulations and other technical information
- Delegate tasks to staff to ensure timely delivery of client projects within budget
- Communicate with tax authorities to explain client positions and resolve assessments
- Keep senior managers/partners informed of task progress and work to meet time budgets
- Prepare complex tax returns forms and tax elections
- Write external publications blog posts and memoranda
- Present on tax topics internally and externally
- Mentor and guide junior members of the tax team
- Participate in firm promotion events to increase awareness of services
Qualifications:
- University degree
- Completion or near completion of the InDepth Tax program OR a Masters of Taxation program or CPA
- At least four years of practical experience in public practice
- Exceptional technical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and work in a fastpaced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on client service
- Strong leadership organizational and problemsolving skills
- Positive team contributor with the ability to work independently when required
Computer Skills:
- Proficient with Caseware/Caseview
- Familiar with tax applications like Taxprep CCH Intelliconnect Taxnet Pro Tax Find etc.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint SharePoint and Outlook)
