Overview: The Payroll Accountant plays a critical role in the financial health of the organization by ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing. Key Responsibilities:
- Process biweekly payroll for all employees accurately and on time.
- Calculate gross wages deductions and net pay based on company policies and regulations.
- Maintain and update payroll records ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll regulations including tax reporting and withholding.
- Prepare and process payrollrelated reports including earnings statements and tax liability reports.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of payroll software systems.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and address employee inquiries regarding compensation.
- Support yearend processes including W2 distributions and annual tax filings.
- Coordinate with HR to manage employee benefits and deductions accurately.
- Stay abreast of industry updates and changes in payroll laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with finance team during audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Train and mentor junior payroll staff improving overall team efficiency.
- Prepare and analyze payroll budgets for departmental planning.
- Assist in developing payroll policies and procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives related to payroll enhancements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
- Minimum of 37 years experience in payroll processing or accounting.
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g. ADP Paychex Ultimate Software).
- Proficiency in Excel
- Strong understanding of payroll laws regulations and compliance.
- Experience with tax calculations and reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting tools.
- Experience with financial auditing and reporting.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
