Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough forensic examinations on survivors of sexual .
• Collect and preserve evidence according to established protocols.
• Provide immediate medical care and emotional support to patients.
• Document all findings and procedures accurately in medical records.
• Coordinate with law enforcement and legal entities when necessary.
• Educate patients about available resources and support services.
• Maintain a traumainformed approach to patient care.
• Train and mentor other healthcare personnel in SANE protocols.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss cases.
• Keep up to date with best practices in forensic nursing.
• Advocate for patient rights and ensure their psychological wellbeing.
• Manage sensitive and confidential information with care.
• Provide referrals to psychological support services as needed.
• Engage in community outreach to educate on sexual issues.
• Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives within the organization.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Certification as a SANE (Sexual Nurse Examiner).
• Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience.
• Experience in emergency trauma or critical care preferred.
• Strong knowledge of traumainformed care principles.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive subjects with discretion.
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and in crisis situations.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• Knowledge of legal issues related to sexual cases.
• Familiarity with patient advocacy resources in the community.
• Proficiency in electronic health record documentation.
• Strong problemsolving and critical thinking abilities.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
