Overview
The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of surgical procedures within a healthcare facility. Working closely with surgeons nurses and other medical personnel the CST is responsible for maintaining a sterile environment preparing surgical instruments and assisting during operations. This position not only demands technical skill and knowledge of surgical processes but also the ability to stay calm under pressure. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room before surgery by setting up sterile instruments and equipment.
- Assist in positioning patients safely and comfortably on the operating table.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during operations.
- Pass surgical instruments to surgeons and assistants as directed.
- Monitor and maintain supplies and instruments during the procedure.
- Handle specimens according to established protocols.
- Communicate with the surgical team regarding patient status and any changes in condition.
- Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Participate in preoperative and postoperative patient care.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures.
- Assist with patient transport and prepare patients for discharge postsurgery.
- Maintain accurate sterile counts on instruments and sponges.
- Participate in quality control and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay updated on surgical procedures and technological advancements in the field.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associates degree in surgical technology preferred.
- Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in surgical settings preferred.
- Knowledge of surgical instruments procedures and practices.
- Familiarity with sterile techniques and infection control protocols.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a teamoriented environment.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing patient and surgical needs.

Schedule and Shift Details
FullTime Rotating Days/Nights with weekends and on call; 8 or 12hour shifts
