Job description: Design Engineer
Location: Yelahanka Bangalore
You will:
A Design Engineer Casting in the automotive industry specializes in designing and developing cast components used in vehicles such as engine parts transmission housings and structural components. The role requires expertise in casting processes material selection and design optimization to ensure the production of highquality lightweight and costeffective components. The engineer works closely with multidisciplinary teams to align designs with performance safety and regulatory requirements.
To be successful you will be expected to:
- Design cast components using advanced CAD tools (e.g. CATIA SolidWorks or NX).
- Develop detailed engineering drawings 3D models and technical specifications.
- Optimize designs for weight reduction performance and manufacturability.
- Develop detailed designs for new products systems or components using CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks AutoCAD or CATIA).
- Collaborate with foundries to ensure designs are suitable for casting processes such as sand casting die casting or investment casting.
- Analyze and mitigate potential casting defects (e.g. porosity shrinkage).
- Validate designs through simulation tools (e.g. MAGMASOFT ProCAST).
You must have any or a combination of any of the following skills:
- Bachelors or masters degree in mechanical engineering
- 13 years of experience in design engineering particularly in casting or automotive components.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. CATIA NX Creo).
- Knowledge of casting simulation tools (e.g. MAGMASOFT AutoCAST).
- Strong understanding of casting processes materials and manufacturing methods.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
