Overview
As an Electrical Maintenance Technician (Industrial Electrician) you play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of electrical systems within industrial facilities. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical equipment performing preventive maintenance and identifying electrical issues to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.
Key responsibilities
- Inspecting electrical systems equipment and components to identify hazards defects or the need for adjustment or repair
- Performing routine maintenance on electrical systems and components to ensure the longevity of machinery and facilities
- Diagnosing malfunctioning systems apparatus and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
- Reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical blueprints diagrams and schematics to effectively troubleshoot and repair equipment
- Installing and repairing electrical systems apparatus and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment
- Testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring equipment and fixtures to ensure compatibility and safety of the system
- Adhering to all safety measures and policies to guarantee a safe working environment and prevent workplace incidents
- Collaborating with engineers and other personnel to identify define and solve developmental problems
- Performing preventive maintenance tasks to keep equipment in good working condition minimizing unplanned downtime
- Following maintenance schedules and documenting all maintenance and repair work performed
- Responding to emergency maintenance requests as required including evenings and weekends
- Complying with company policies and legal requirements while performing maintenance tasks
- Training and mentoring junior technicians and apprentices
- Communicating with management regarding workrelated issues equipment status and recommendations
- Keeping abreast of new technologies and techniques to improve work quality and efficiency
Required qualifications
- Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program or relevant vocational training
- Electricians license and other relevant certifications
- Proven experience as an electrical maintenance technician or industrial electrician in an industrial setting
- Strong understanding of electrical systems components and equipment including transformers motors generators and switchgear
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical blueprints and technical manuals
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Indepth knowledge of electrical safety standards and procedures
- Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and control systems
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities to identify electrical issues and implement effective solutions
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical fitness and dexterity to perform tasks requiring bending stooping kneeling and lifting heavy equipment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions including tight spaces heights and outdoor settings
- Willingness to adhere to safety guidelines and follow company policies and regulations
- Availability for oncall duty and overtime when necessary
