Job Description
The Schools in Hamden Connecticut is seeking qualified Special Education Teachers to join their team. Positions are available at various educational levels including elementary middle and high school.
Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Planning and Delivery: Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each students needs. Deliver specialized instruction in various settings including selfcontained classrooms and resource rooms.

Collaboration: Work closely with general education teachers paraprofessionals and related service providers to support inclusive education practices. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and strategies.

Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress. Adjust instructional methods based on data to meet individual learning goals.

Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a supportive learning environment. Implement positive behavioral interventions and supports to promote student engagement.

Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress. Provide detailed reports and participate in parentteacher conferences as needed.
Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.

Certification: Valid Connecticut teaching certification in Special Education (Comprehensive Special Education Grades K12 165).

Experience: Prior experience teaching students with diverse learning needs is advantageous.

Skills: Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop and implement effective instructional strategies for students with special needs.
