Job Description

Job Title: Au Pair/Tutor for 3 Siblings in Cape Town

We are seeking an au pair to support three brothers aged 9 11 and 13. We are looking for someone who is active passionate about teaching and working with children and experienced in inclusive tutoring methods.

The ideal candidate should have high energy be capable of keeping up with the demands of an active lifestyle and have a funloving personality. The oldest sibling is autistic and has a keen interest in marine animals especially whales as well as extinct species. Therefore previous experience working with autistic children is essential.

The boys enjoy playing soccer gaming together board games and drawing.


Main Purpose of the Job:

To be a helping hand to three siblings with unique and specific needs providing the necessary guidance and support to help them thrive. A special interest in and passion for being a secure and consistent source of support is of the utmost importance.

The candidate will be trained by the NDC Facilitation Academy and thereafter receive personalised support from a registered counsellor for up to 4 6 weeks working in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team.


Job Objectives:

  • Build rapport and establish a trusting relationship with the children and their family.
  • Collect the children from school drive them home and transport them to extramurals sports and other afterschool activities.
  • Be flexible and available to assist if one of the children is unwell school ends earlier than usual or for other similar situations.
  • Understand support and respect the childrens autonomy and regulation needs.
  • Provide support and scaffolding to reduce uncertainties and alleviate potential anxiety triggers.
  • Prepare simple meals or snacks for the children at lunchtime or after school.
  • Facilitate their understanding and navigation of various social contexts as needed.
  • Assisting with homework revision and studying for exams and assessments.
  • Support the children s executive functioning skills such as planning organising problemsolving and asking for help.
  • Create and design visual resources such as weekly or monthly planners and schedules as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers and parents to ensure cohesive support.


Requirements


  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans Essential.
  • Valid driver s license and reliable car Essential.

Qualifications:

  • Teaching or psychology qualification Desirable.

  • Previous experience working with neurodivergent children Essential.
  • Previous experience working with children Essential.
  • Previous experience tutoring/teaching neurodivergent children Essential.

JobRelated Knowledge:

  • Familiarity and knowledge of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) Essential.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of ObsessiveCompulsive Disorder (OCD) Desirable.
  • Familiarity with a lowarousal approach Essential.
  • Knowledge of the unique support needs of neurodivergent individuals Essential.

Working Hours:

  • Monday Friday: 13h00 18h00 (flexibility required).
  • Occasional babysitting as needed with additional hours compensated accordingly.
  • Flexibility to assist over weekends for extra revision or exam preparation with additional hours also compensated.

Salary:

R8 000 R14 000

January 2025
