Job Description
Overview:
The role of a Fire Officer is crucial to the safety and security of a company or community. Fire Officers are responsible for leading firefighting and emergency response teams ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations conducting risk assessments and managing fire prevention and protection systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement fire safety protocols and procedures
- Lead and coordinate firefighting and emergency response activities
- Conduct regular inspections of fire protection systems and equipment
- Train and educate staff on fire safety and emergency procedures
- Participate in fire drills and exercises
- Investigate fire incidents and determine causes
- Manage and maintain firefighting equipment and vehicles
- Collaborate with external emergency services and agencies
- Develop and update emergency response plans
- Supervise and mentor firefighting personnel
- Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and standards
- Oversee risk assessments and implement appropriate control measures
- Conduct safety audits and inspections
- Prepare incident reports and documentation
- Manage budget and resources for fire safety operations
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Fire Science Emergency Management or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in firefighting and emergency response
- Strong knowledge of fire safety codes and standards
- Excellent leadership and decisionmaking skills
- Ability to work effectively in highstress and emergency situations
- Proficiency in using firefighting equipment and tools
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
- Physical fitness and agility
- Training in hazardous materials handling
- Knowledge of incident command systems
- Ability to work in a team and manage personnel
- Strong problemsolving and analytical skills
