We are looking for an experienced Service Manager to join our established team based in Borehamwood.As the Plant and Transport Service Manager you willoversee the management maintenance and logistical operations of the companys plant machinery and transport fleet. The role ensures equipment reliability costeffectiveness compliance with UK regulations and the efficiency of all transportrelated activities.
Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee maintenance schedules for plant machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
Monitor and manage repair activities ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards.
Maintain accurate records of plant usage maintenance and servicing.
Develop and implement strategies for equipment replacement and asset management.
Ensure compliance with health safety and environmental standards.
Coordinate the companys fleet operations including scheduling and route planning.
Oversee the repair servicing and replacement of vehicles.
Ensure compliance with UK transport regulations including HGV licensing and driver compliance.
Monitor and manage fuel efficiency and costs.
Supervise transport staff including drivers and logistics teams.
Prepare and manage budgets for plant and transport operations.
Analyse cost efficiencies and propose methods to reduce expenses.
Evaluate and procure new equipment and vehicles ensuring value for money.
Lead mentor and develop a team of technicians drivers and support staff.
Ensure clear communication and coordination between departments.
Address performance issues and implement training programmes as required.
Stay updated on UK legislation affecting plant machinery and transport.
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws including the Health and Safety at Work Act LOLER PUWER and DVSA standards.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain compliance.
- Proven experience in plant and transport management.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and technical aspects of plant machinery and transport vehicles.
- Familiarity with UK transport legislation and compliance requirements.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Budgeting and financial management experience.
- Proficiency in computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) or similar software.
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 3 or above in Engineering or Transport Management.
- CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification.
- Experience in logistics and route optimisation.
- HGV driving licence.
