We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Transport Supervisor to contribute to the success of the Great Bear Transport Department at our Sheffield site.
You will participate by overseeing the transport operation efficiently planning the transport resources whilst maintaining daily communication with operational teams vendors and customers regarding network/route plan changes.
Shift Pattern: MondayFriday 6am2pm.
Salary: 32000 per annum
Key Duties of a Transport Supervisor include but are not limited to:
- Organising and controlling the daily transport operation to meet all legal requirements provide a timely and cost effective delivery service whilst achieving all contract specific KPIs.
- Communicating with Transport Planning Teams and Management to maximise backloads as well as identifying cost saving opportunities trailer utilisation and cost efficiency.
- Supporting the Transport Planning Team Operations Manager and Administration Teams to ensure we comply with the customers requirements and procedures.
- Ensuring effective planning and utilisation of drivers and subcontract haulage for deliveries out of multiple warehousing sites ensuring full legal compliance.
- Managing all aspects of driver performance to achieve or surpass expectations and KPIs.
- Reviewing the strategic transport plans daily in relation to providing cost effective solutions and reacting to unexpected issues.
- Acting as a point of escalation to manage any queries and issues from our customers subcontract hauliers and warehousing sites.
- Building and maintaining good working relationships with team members vendors hauliers and partners.
- Creating maintaining and supplying various databases and spreadsheets for management reporting.
- Project management of a range of single and multidisciplinary transport projects involving responsibility for resourcing financial management and controls including the timely and reliable delivery of objectives.
Qualifications :
- Demonstrable experience in a similar transport operations preferably in a high volume retail environment.
- Up to date knowledge of Working Time Directive tachographs and related transport legislation as well as Health & Safety requirements.
- High standard of customer service and influencing skills with strong customerfacing experience.
- Proven experience of leading a large team of Drivers.
- Capable of working well under pressure whilst maintaining high accuracy and real attention to detail.
- National CPC is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of RoadRunner Pro Tachomaster and Falcon would be advantageous.
- Excellent problem solving and organisational skills.
