Job Description

Job Title: Director of NICU

Location: Austin TX

Shift Type: Variable

Shift Duration: 12 hours

Shifts Per Week: 3

Scheduled Hours: 36 hours per week

Salary Range: Up to $173000 annually depending on experience and qualifications

Job Overview:

The NICU Director ensures highquality patientcentered care by overseeing the daily operations and staffing of the Level III NICU department. The Director is responsible for forecasting planning and budget monitoring while fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration. You will work to improve efficiency patient safety and clinical outcomes by implementing evidencebased practices. This leadership role also ensures adherence to legal regulatory and accreditation standards and works to maintain a seamless flow of patient care across the unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate a superior clinical identity by identifying and implementing evidencebased practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes.
  • Manage clinical practice variation to improve efficiency effectiveness and cost management.
  • Ensure compliance with internal/external benchmarks accreditations legal and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee patient throughput volume forecasting and admission/discharge planning to ensure patientcentered care.
  • Develop care coordination policies to enhance quality safety and efficiency in patient care.
  • Foster interdisciplinary communication and collaboration ensuring staff have the appropriate clinical competencies.
  • Direct nursing practice and unit operations ensuring policies and procedures align with patient and family care needs.
  • Provide leadership to ensure a positive and unparalleled patient experience.
  • Participate in budget development staffing plans and resource allocation.
  • Share rotating oncall duties with two NICU Managers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or approved equivalent education required; BSN preferred.
  • Masters Degree preferred.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas or compact licensure in accordance with law and regulation.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
  • NRP FHM and RNCOB certifications preferred for L&D nurses.
