A Global Procurement Supplier Quality Leader in the Global Managerial Track (M3) has the following responsibilities /

Primary Deliverables*
Develops and maintains an effective team who demonstrates effective communication cooperation critical thinking

Supervises the daily activities for plant and commodity supplier quality engineering organization.
Establishes continuous improvement and strategic initiatives to support Supplier Quality Engineering.
Responsible for evaluating and implementing global strategies with emphasis on quality cost control availability and
delivery with oversight for a small to moderate team.
Ensures the organizations strategic objectives and plans which have been set are being delivered by developing and
continually assessing key performance measures.
Responsible for oversight for supplier APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) using a fivephase process that
includes.
o Product Planning and Quality Program Definition
o Product Design and Development
o Process Design and Development
o Validation of Product Process
o Production Launch Assessment and Improvement
Provides oversight for utilization of the automotive standard AIAG PPAP process (Automotive Industry Action Group
Production Part Approval Process).
Oversees use of the formal 8D containment root cause and corrective action process and documentation. Oversees
supplier scheduling of formal 8D report outs either at Allison or via teleconference. (Note: 8D is a standard automotive
industry problem solving methodology)
Supports continual quality improvement at the supply base with the use of process control plan audits and supplier
scorecard monitoring.
Models a serviceoriented collaborative environment across the organization.
Ensures best practices are utilized across the team and organization.
Ensures proper execution of global systems and procedures within the organization.
Provides strategic guidance and support to the Supplier Quality team and acts as a key advisor to the executive
Procurement staff for all responsibilities within their global region.
Supports procurement of direct materials by ensuring the appropriate Supplier Quality processes and tools are utilized
in the Procurement work cycle.
Manages the departmental performance and expense budgets.
Maintains a physical presence in the workplace.
Skills and Abilities:
Proven management & leadership skills to hire train and develop a highly effective global purchasing team.
Oral and written communication skills ability to communicate orally and in written format in crossfunctional
environments; including leadership.
Flexible motivated and capable of making changes to improve and sustain functional proficiency while adapting
to changing business and customer needs
ERP System knowledge relating to purchasing supplier and materials management including the ability to
develop and implement system level procedures that document best practices and workflows that are consistently
applied by all staff in all locations.
Proven skills in project and process management.
Experience managing a Supplier Quality organization implementing new and innovative ideas and streamlining
existing processes.
Ability to work collaboratively with people and possess the skills in problem solving situation assessment and
conflict resolution.
Driven selfstarter with the ability to be selfdirected.
Proficient in the selection (hiring) process for the team.
Ability to oversee several simultaneous projects with the proper delegating skills and the precise amount of
involvement without interference allowing the specifically designated personnel to perform their tasks.
Working knowledge of AIAG standards APQP Control Plans FMEA PPAP SPC and MSA.
Working knowledge of automotive industry 8D problem solving tool.
Working knowledge in various advanced problem solving skills Six Sigma Red X Kepner Tregoe or equivalent
processes
Working knowledge in Quality Systems fundamentals with a focus on IATF16949/ISO9001 requirements.
Fluent in written and conversational English language.
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 25%.
Education Requirement: Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience
Preferred Degrees: Bachelors or Masters degrees in Engineering Business Administration Supply
Chain Mathematics or Management
Experience:
10 or more years of experience in the field or in a related area.
3 or more years of supervision experience.
