Principal Engineer Switchyard (High Voltage Substation Expert)

Position Overview:
Were seeking an experienced Principal Engineer specializing in switchyard design and engineering to join a dynamic Engineering & Construction Business Unit. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead complex substation projects from conception through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead switchyard projects from earlystage development through construction and commissioning
- Provide technical oversight and training for external engineers of record (EOR)
- Coordinate with stakeholders and transmission owners on switchyard development
- Manage material procurement and vendor relationships
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEEE NESC ASCE)
- Support project commissioning activities and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering
- 7 years of experience in High Voltage substation/switchyard design
- Strong project management capabilities
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Experience with utilityscale power projects
Preferred Qualifications:
- PE license or PMP certification
- Experience with renewable energy integration
- Knowledge of ISO requirements and interconnection processes
