Job Description
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newham to assist with the appointment of a Building Surveyor on a 3month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: 269.59 348.00 per Day
Responsibilities:
- To deputise for the Major Works & Voids Manager or the Disrepair & Special Projects Manager in the management of services for the entire Housing Property Services.
- To establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders and partners and any other agency or department so as to provide an effective and efficient service.
- To undertake Health & Safety inspections and evaluate outcomes for the whole team and ensure any works necessary are carried out.
- To ensure that daytoday and responsive repairs including the appointment diaries are managed and executed to provide both a good service to the customer as well as ensuring value for money. To effectively monitor and control expenditure against budget and to provide statistical analysis. To liaise directly with the councils
preferred contractors. - To ensure that all works are supervised and undertaken in accordance with contract specifications London Borough of Newhams procedures Health & Safety (including gas safety) Regulations and the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
Qualifications:
- Formal training in one or more of the following areas:
a) building technology/construction
b) repairs
c) estimating
d) contractual matters
The level attained should be at least at the level of HND or HNC - Considerable experience of building inspection work identifying faults Preparing reports/specifications.
- Considerable experience of supervising building works.

- You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
