About the Role
Our client a leading consultancy is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to oversee the design and technical assurance of electrical systems for government programmes and public frameworks. This role requires expertise in managing complex design deliverables ensuring compliance with legal contractual and statutory requirements and maintaining design principles throughout project development and construction.
The position includes working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and acting as a technical advisor for clients supporting sustainability objectives such as operational and embodied carbon strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Technical Assurance:
- Leading the design of electrical systems to concept stage meeting all business statutory and contractual requirements.
- Providing technical assurance to ensure design principles are upheld during developed design and construction.
- Undertaking modelling simulation options appraisals feasibility studies and contributing to wholelife costing.
Project Delivery:
- Managing design deliverables coordinating with direct reports and ensuring project deadlines are met.
- Acting as a client technical advisor challenging noncompliant design solutions and presenting technical information to nontechnical audiences.
- Conducting condition surveys supporting tender processes and overseeing project handover.
- Collaborating with architects engineers and sustainability consultants to integrate energyefficient solutions into designs.
Sustainability and Compliance:
- Working towards net zero carbon goals by proactively identifying and managing carbon emissions during project delivery.
- Ensuring all designs comply with statutory regulations standards and health and safety requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Building strong relationships with clients and participating in meetings and design workshops.
- Assisting with the production of project reporting and engaging in business improvement initiatives.
Skills and Competencies:
- Expertise in LV distribution lighting and emergency lighting power distribution data installations fire engineering safety and security systems and CCTV.
- Knowledge of lift/vertical transportation systems and communication systems is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of RIBA stages cost control value engineering and site inspections.
- Proficiency in using Revit and associated digital tools.
- Effective use of Office 365 suite of tools with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organisational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Requirements:
- Degreequalified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Chartered professional status or working towards it.
- Current Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
- Proven experience in delivering compliant electrical designs and acting as a technical advisor.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to adapt to changing project needs.
