Title: Network Engineer with Cisco Switch Refresh Experience (Onsite)

Job Description:
MUST HAVES:
- Can you describe your recent experience with Cisco switch refresh projects What specific models of switches/routers have you worked with (e.g. Cisco)
- What is the largest switch/router refresh project youve managed and how many devices were involved
- How do you typically prepare for a switch refresh and what steps do you take to minimize downtime during cutovers
- Can you explain a challenging scenario where you had to configure OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) in a switch refresh How did you address any issues
- Tell us about your experience working with Spanning Tree Protocol (STP). How do you ensure its configured correctly during switch replacements to prevent network loops
- What is your approach to troubleshooting issues that arise during the cutover phase Can you provide a time where you solved a technical problem under a time constraint
- Have you worked in a role with a similar on/off night shift schedule How do you handle the physical and mental demands of working alternating night shifts
- Can you give an example of a multisite network upgrade youve worked on How did you coordinate between different sites and ensure all necessary prep work was completed ahead of time
DESCRIPTION:
- 5 to 10 years as a Network Engineer. MUST have current Cisco Switch refresh experience.
- Layer 3 switching strong OSPF and Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) are must haves for the switch refresh project.
- This is a Cisco Switch/Router refresh position for Hospital locations swapping out 10 to 12 year old switches/routers then configuring and installing new ones ( Cisco 9300s 9410s 9500s 9606 core switches).
- This Network Engineer will have two Technicians that work with him/her.
- Cutovers for hardware refresh starts around 5pm 7pm or maybe 9pm based on location. Usually 5 hours long. Manager said moving 1 port at a time takes a while.
- Youll work 1 night on/off and another Network Engineer will work the next night with 2 Technicians.
- During the day or night youll do prep work for the next site youll go to.
Items Required to be completed:
- New Sites/Circuits: to be brought up and integrated
- Upgrade all ports for 9100 series APs to 5G throughout enterprise
- DNAC Essentials upgrade to Advantage License @ 75 switches.
- Switch port speed limitation network wide.
- Research and planning 4 uplinks per chassis at CS
- Upgrade IOS on 100 switches to support Cisco SDA
- Help with LAN Refreshes to get these completed by May 1st 2025
- Both at CS and HH (L3 migrations)
