Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of a Targeting Support Meeting Manager on a 3month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 25.72 33.76 per Hour

Responsibilities:

  • Take a lead role in the delivery of the local authority education statutory duties to coordinate regular targeting support meetings.
  • Ensure school attendance leads from all schools and the local authority identify discuss and agree joint targeted action plans for pupils who are severely absent or those at risk of becoming so or persistently absent where barriers to attendance require a multiagency response to overcome.
  • Support a dialogue of overall attendance trends and identification of emerging patterns and help schools focus efforts to promote improvement.
  • Ensure delivery of child focused practice and in accordance with the councils equality policies and Southwark Stands Together pledges including a commitment to developing a better understanding of the drivers for disproportionality in educational outcomes and taking
    positive action to tackle these.
  • In collaboration with the Virtual School the wider frontline local authority workforce and partners monitor and seek to improve the attendance of our most vulnerable children particularly children with a social worker and children with additional needs.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a professional qualification in Social Work or a related profession working with children and/ young people and families
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of the underlying causes of poor school attendance and exclusion including child development parenting capacity environmental factors risk and protective factors and evidencebased approaches to improving attendance and promoting inclusion.
  • Experience of managing practice to deliver highquality attendance and inclusion work driving high quality assessment and planning with vulnerable families quality assuring voluntary and statutory interventions under relevant legislation and guidance.
