Job Description
The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work in Dr. Jose Berrocals research group. This position will be funded by ERC Starting Grant.

ICIQ is looking for a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to work in the group of Dr. Jose Berrocal. The successful candidate will work on synthesis and mechanical characterization of photo and mechanoresponsive polymer materials.
Responsibilities
- Thermal and mechanical characterization of polymer materials with dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) rheology tensile testing differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) thermal gravimetric anaylsis (TGA)
- Assist the supervisor in the daily supervision of the PhD students
- Synthesis of small molecules and polymers to be used for sensing applications
- Study the photo and mechanoresponsive behavior of polymers with setups combining microtensile testing and optical probes measuring transmittance spectra
- Production of written reports and presentations to update the group/supervisor
Requirements
- PhD in Chemistry or Materials science
- Level of English equal to B2 or higher
- Prior experience with rheology
- Ability to work independently and in teams

- Willigness to undergo a robust training in soft skills and mentoring
- Active participation in discussion meetings and brainstorming sessions
- Willigness to coach/collaborate with PhD students
- Willigness to contribute in project writing
We offer:
- A 3year fulltime position.
- Remuneration according to individuals qualifications/experience
- Annual salary split in twelve monthly payments
- Incorporation: February 2025.

Selection Process
ICIQs selection process usually entails the following phases:
- Preselection: The preselection process will be based on qualifications and expertise as reflected on the candidates CVs. This phase is meritbased.
- Interview: Preselected candidates will be interviewed by the Hiring Manager of the position and the appointed Selection Committee.
- Offer Letter:Once the successful candidate is selected the People Unit will extend a Job Offer specifying the start day salary and overall job conditions.
