Key Responsibilities Mainframe DB2 DBA: Physical Database Support Create and manage physical database objects such as DDL DBD ACB files tablespaces and indexes. Perform database maintenance modifications and enhancements to ensure efficient operations. Establish the core standard for the DB TS Tables ACF2 groups Implement and maintain database archival processes and procedures. Execute bind processes for application plans/packages during test and production rollouts. Administrator role is responsible for the installation maintenance and administration of the DB2 z/OS IBMs DB2 z/OS in a highperformance highlyavailable datasharing configuration. This DB2 Systems Database Administration Manage database tablespaces including creation resizing buffer pool assignments and lock size modifications. Perform updates to DB2 objects including creating tables altering columns renaming objects and adding indexes. Set up and run utility jobs (e.g. image copies reorganizations data loads/unloads) for application objects. Conduct application table refreshes across environments (e.g. Production TEST/DEV QA). Monitor database performance space utilization and recommend improvements. Configuration of DB2 groups and subsystems in SYSPLEX datasharing environment supporting IBM CICS batch COBOL Store procedure and distributed access applications. Performance Tuning and Optimization Provide expertlevel performance tuning for DB systems and related files. Optimize DB2 tables queries buffer pools and system resources for maximum efficiency. Conduct application performance tuning related to DB2 and IMS databases. Disaster Recovery (DR) and OnCall Support Provide DR support for application objects and maintain technical procedures/documentation. Monitor and troubleshoot database issues offering oncall support for critical incidents. Establish quiesce points and perform recovery operations as necessary. System Administration and Security Retain and manage exclusive use of DBMS system administration IDs and privileges. Plan and assist in implementing production database modifications based on business growth and application changes. Promote approved database changes into the production environment. SubsystemSpecific Responsibilities IMS Subsystem (Good to have to support IMS Migration) Create logical and physical designs based on business requirements. Develop and run DBDs write Calls SSA and PSBs as per requests. Performance tune IMS databases and troubleshoot/debug subsystem issues. Create test components and CLIST scripts for debugging and troubleshooting. DB2 Subsystem Develop logical and physical designs including creating and running DDL for tables and indexes. Review optimize and troubleshoot queries for performance issues. Support internally developed DB2 utilities and tools. Execute Runstat and Package Rebind jobs and maintain system stability. Generate and test components (binds runstats utilities) to support application development. Core Skill Sets: 10 years IBM System Z experience and concepts with considerable knowledge in the following: SMP/E IBM DB2 utilities BMC Mainview for DB2 and CA Tools for DB2 particularly Detector Subsystem analyzer RC migrator and Fast unload Experience with DB2 z/OS as a distributed server DASD replication techniques z/OS Storage management ACF2/RACF security management w/DB2 Coupling Facility Networking concepts (IP SNA) WLM concepts USS v5 years IBM DB2 experience with advanced knowledge in the following: Bufferpool/memory management DB2 internal structures (RID EDM BPs etc.) Tablespace/Page structures Backup/recovery/logging facilities and strategies DB2 locking ZPARMS DB2 tracing/IFCIDs o Experience in problem determination and analysis o Analytical / critical / outsidethebox thinking in problem solving especially in possible critical highpressure situations.
