1. Primary Objectives and Success Metrics
The primary objective support outcomes that support primary mission/goal of MNPS
2. Funding and Budget Constraints
Funding is usually more constrained often coming from fixed budgets grants or taxpayer dollars. This can limit project scope resources and technology choices. The project manager must work within financial constraints balancing costefficiency with expected outcome.
3. Stakeholder Engagement and Management
Recipient stakeholders include teachers administrators sometimes school boards and on very rare occassions the community requiring conscientious engagement.
4. Project Scope and Innovation
Innovation must be balanced with accessibility inclusivity and ease of use. An appreciation that adoption rates may be slower not only due to budgetary limitations but legacy years in service as well.
5. Compliance and Regulatory Requirements
Compliance is extensive covering student data privacy laws (e.g. FERPA) state education standards and accessibility laws. The project manager must ensure that projects comply with these unique regulations often involving extra safeguards for protecting student data and ensuring equitable access.
6. Change Management and Training
Change management must be carefully managed to minimize disruption. Project managers often invest more time ensuring training and support are available.
Job Description Basics
Oversee all aspects of projects from initiation planning execution monitoring and controlling through to project closure which includes budgeting resource management customer satisfaction lessons learned and release to operational status ensuing that the projects are on time within scope and within budget.
Create own edit and update project schedule regularly along with any and project related elements consistently attentive to details capturing and managing risks throughout the project working quickly to resolve any project issues and managing changes as needed
Create and maintain extensive project documentation ensuring accuracy and completeness including project budgets following up on all elements of the budget as required
Possess and use regularly strong extremely good verbal and written communications skills to easily translate tech speak to business speak facilitating understanding for the nontechnical along with the desire to provide exceptional customer service while championing project management across crossfunctional teams and the organization at large.
Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques proving regular progress reports to team and upper management.
Provide leadership and coordination for the project daily integrate team communications work closely with other teams including PCM team.
Performs other duties or tasks as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the responsibilities in this job classification.
