Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Anesthesiologist to join our team in providing exceptional care to Veterans. This role involves delivering highquality anesthesia services across various clinical settings including preoperative evaluations direct administration of anesthesia and supervision of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs). The Anesthesiologist will play a vital role in enhancing patient outcomes through professionalism technical expertise and a commitment to continuous learning and education.
Key Responsibilities Patient Care - Perform comprehensive preoperative and preprocedural anesthetic risk assessments including historytaking physical exams and diagnostic review.
- Document evaluations and care plans in the patients medical record.
- Administer anesthetics and perform related procedures such as peripheral IV placement arterial and central venous catheter placements and use of invasive/noninvasive monitoring devices.
- Provide care across various clinical settings including the Operating Room PACU ICU Pain Clinic IR Suite and GI Suite.
- Participate in the anesthesia preoperative assessment clinic.
Team Collaboration and Supervision - Supervise CRNAs in delivering anesthesia as part of a teambased care model.
- Work effectively with patients families and healthcare professionals fostering respect and dignity in interactions.
OnCall and Emergency Duties - Participate in weekend holiday evening and night oncall schedules in alignment with departmental standards.
- Maintain current ACLS and BLS certifications.
Communication and Documentation - Provide objective information regarding anesthesia risks and benefits securing informed consent from patients or guardians.
- Perform inpatient and outpatient consultations including econsultations as needed.
- Utilize VA electronic medical records efficiently and accurately.
Education and Training - Support the education and training of nurses technicians medical students residents and fellows.
- Stay updated with best practices and ensure procedures meet or exceed national statistical standards.
Compliance and Security - Adhere to hospital policies community standards and information security procedures.
- Provide care tailored to the cognitive emotional and physical needs of patients with an understanding of age and diseaserelated factors.
Qualifications Required Licensure - Valid medical license to practice in any U.S. State Territory Commonwealth or the District of Columbia.
Educational and Certification Requirements - Board Certified/Board Eligible in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Certified in EHR and CPRS systems.
