Job Description: Generalist Summer Private Credit Associate
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and analytically minded individual to join our team as a Generalist Summer Private Credit Associate. This 10 12 week internship offers an immersive experience in private credit investing providing exposure to diverse industries and credit products including direct lending mezzanine debt structured credit and special situations. As a Summer Associate you will work closely with senior professionals on live transactions credit analysis and portfolio management initiatives gaining valuable insights into the private credit investment process.
Key Responsibilities: Investment Analysis and Research:
- Conduct indepth market research to identify and evaluate private credit investment opportunities across sectors.
- Develop and refine complex financial models to analyze cash flow capital structures and return profiles.
- Assess credit quality covenant structures and risk factors to support investment decisionmaking.
- Assist in preparing detailed investment memoranda and presentations for investment committees.
Due Diligence and Transaction Execution:
- Participate in due diligence efforts including financial operational and legal reviews.
- Collaborate with external advisors to validate assumptions and assess risks.
- Support the structuring and negotiation of transaction terms and documentation.
- Assist in managing data rooms and coordinating communications between stakeholders.
Portfolio Management:
- Monitor the performance of portfolio companies by analyzing financial and operational metrics.
- Collaborate with management teams to implement strategies for value creation and risk mitigation.
- Assist in preparing reports and presentations on portfolio performance for internal stakeholders and investors.
Strategic Initiatives and Collaboration:
- Work closely with senior team members to refine investment strategies and credit underwriting frameworks.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute insights into market trends and investment opportunities.
- Gain exposure to decisionmaking processes and highlevel strategy discussions within the firm.
Qualifications: Educational Background:
- Currently pursuing an MBA or other advanced degree in Finance Economics Business Administration or a related field.
- Strong academic performance with a demonstrated interest in private credit or alternative investments.
Professional Experience:
- 2 4 years of prior experience in private credit investment banking management consulting or related fields.
- Familiarity with credit analysis financial modeling and transaction execution is strongly preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Advanced financial modeling and valuation skills with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
- Proficiency in relevant financial tools and databases such as Bloomberg Preqin or PitchBook is a plus.
